Acrylate monomers are esters that contain vinyl groups, that is, two carbon atoms double bonded to each more, directly bonded to the carbonyl carbon. Methacrylates use at times an additional methyl group attached to the alpha carbon. Polyacrylates come the most common class action of polyester. Most common acrylates include methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, and acryloyl chloride.

Acrylamide is an acrylate by having an amide group.
